Main Street, USA

Actually, it is First Street, Delhi, Louisiana.  The Delhi downtown historic district is “almost two blocks of party wall commercial buildings facing the railroad along First Street.”  The four buildings right to left pictured above were c. 1895 except for the green stuccoed one story building with the red awning, which was 1920s.

Despite the alterations to contributing elements…Downtown Delhi Historic District still conveys its identity as a historic commercial center…(Downtown Delhi Historic District assessment for National Register of Historic Places)

I wonder what the awning and window covering on the first building is made of and, more importantly, what is underneath! Are there businesses in all of them?

It is some type of metal covering, and yes, they all appeared to have businesses. The first is a church/mission, and others were a home health, lawyer, etc. although I do not recall for certain what the rest of them were. All in all, it was a nice little historic downtown.
