Communal Dining

After intermittent thunderstorms and a lot of rain, the neighborhood gathered for dinner at dusk.

    Wow! Love them! I don’t get to see too many species around here. An occasional cardinal or bluejay but mostly sparrows. Reminds me of my Grandpop who had feeders in his yard and always had a bunch of different birds flying in and out, with names and backstories he made up for us when we were kids.

      Some days there is a wide variety, and others, not so much. The cardinals and doves are here year round, and the blue birds in spring and into summer. It is also apparently grackle season as they are out in force. I saw the first bluejay at the feeder a couple of days ago, and one day my red-breasted woodpecker was here. I used to have a lot of orioles, but so far this year, not any.
