The not ready for prime time players: Dress rehearsal

Blue Light Special: The Real McCoy

This backsplash is not an app. This backsplash is really Angora Subway in polished marble, completed by the best kitchen crew in Mississippi: Ron Eubanks and his crew. Ron and Casey tiled last Wednesday, grouted Thursday, and finalized touch-up Friday. As soon as the cottage is finished (I will leave that subject alone for the moment), we will be getting in the queue for Ron again–yes, they are that good.

Although I have yet to finalize decor and get things back together, I could not wait any longer to show the final complete cabinets/counter/appliances and πŸŽ‰ tile backsplash πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ! Randy came in during my photo shoot and said “Don’t you want those blue lights on? And some with the under cabinet lights?” I had only been thinking of showcasing the tile backsplash, which Ron and Casey said were perfect for the kitchen and what a great job we did with all the selections. I do really like the option of the subtle lighting over the cabinets and the task lighting under cabinets: Why yes, of course I do, honey!

Click through the photos to see it larger and appreciate the detail!

And in case you never saw the before photos, you can see why I am turning cartwheels and partying in the new kitchen.

While it is always good to have folks who listen to your ideas and try to implement them, it is even better to have those who listen, and also help you to consider options that will enhance your vision. Thank you, Ron for co-creating an even better kitchen than I had first imagined. You were right on with every single suggestion: remove the soffits, put in new crown molding, sheetrock those walls, and buy Farrell Calhoun paint!

Best of all, I have almost forgotten the nightmare of the former kitchen; it is like walking into Disneyland Kitchen where every day is magic.

Love, love, love this new kitchen of yours! Everything goes together so well. It reminds me of Hillary Farr’s design work on “Love It or List It.” Now, I am just about at the point to redo my dollhouse kitchen. I reserve the right to change my mind, but I think I am going to use your kitchen as my inspiration with the exception of the floors. Did you move your mother’s birdhouse?

Thank you, Betty! I have not put anything back on the counter yet since they finished the tile–I had to move it all for the tiling. Now in a doll house, I might be tempted to go with that blue tile. πŸ™‚

Thank you, David! Our kitchen designer does want to display it to showcase what they can do for folks–that is like Home Depot paparazzi, right? πŸ™‚

Sorry, I just miss the edge of that joke as I don’t know who Home Depot are. Though if it’s anything like Ikea I get it. LOL.

Sorry–forgot you aren’t from around here. Home Depot is a giant store that carries cabinets, tile, flooring, bathroom fixtures, tools, gardening, lumber, etc. Basically it is for DIYers and professionals who do construction, carpentry, landscaping, etc. The only furniture they carry is for your patio, but you can order furniture, home decor and more online. I guess it is like Ikea in that way. We like our local store though, and generally they have everything we want or need.

Thanks, Jane! Since you saw the old one in person, you can really appreciate the change, huh? I do love it, and tonight, sat at the counter bar on my new stool and ate my dinner. (Randy said next time–he was still watching the ball game. lol) I do think Randy and I compromised well and had great advice from our designer and our installer.

  6. Exquisite! I adore the blue lighting, and the tiles, and, well, just about everything else. You are going to have a ball cooking! What time’s the kitchen warming?

There is nothing like a beautiful kitchen to those of us who love to cook! We remolding our kitchen when we moved into our house 15 years ago, and I was very sad to leave it. I would walk into the kitchen and feel the delight of having it just the way I wanted it. While I am delighted with my new RV kitchen, it just isn’t the same as the kitchen I put so much of myself into.

My recent camping experience was sans kitchen, unless you count the plastic sink with only cold water. We cooked outside and while it had some lovely moments, I am inclined to think the best part was the after dinner wine…well, that and the fun folks we met who were so kind and gracious. I will treasure the experience…from my new kitchen.
