Grandma’s Table step 3 followed by a fire and medium rare rib eyes

This past week I spent gluing the splits in the table legs and gluing the support bars back in place. It took two days to do all four legs and another two days to do the top and bottom supports. Today, I smoothed the sanding and put on the first coat of paint.

Randy grilled some rib eyes and roasted new potatoes while I baked rolls and put together a salad using my fresh-grown lettuce. The kitchen is cleaned and now I think it is time to head off to bed. All is calm again on the hillside.

  4. I love the blue on the table! (I’m one of those weirdos who prefers my steak well done although I’m learning to deal with medium well as long as there’s not too much pink.)

  5. Wow, nice ribeyes! Unfortunately, I have been advised to reduce red meat to a minimum, so no more ribeyes or ribs for me any more. How about grilling some octopus?

We are pretty rare on the beef and ribs around here, too, but splurge every once in a while. We eat a lot of fish, but Randy doesn’t like to grill it. I may have to learn to use his new grill. I don’t think I will be eating octopus–I don’t like calamari so it doesn’t sound very appealing to me. I had conch last year in Florida for the first time ever, and ate one fritter and said that’s enough for me.

It is interesting to me that so much old furniture that was painted, was painted with green paint. Your dinner looks amazing!
