Thank you, Betty. I saw a piece of window screen that had round items sewn onto it, and it was just so mesmerizing to me to see all the items used. I saved the image January 15, 2021. It took me until now to start to create a version using found objects. I have had the frame for years–probably purchased in some antique shop in Texas, and it has never held anything, but it has been hooked over many a knob or nail. When I bought it, it had green and gold paint on it and the detail was quite evident. When I saw the window screen piece, I knew what I wanted to do with the frame, though the paint has been gone for a while. Mississippi has a way of causing things to disintegrate while inside your house!

Not really, but thank you for the sentiment. 😀 They are just things that are round–more or less, other than the little rectangle with the saying on it.

My first thought as I studied your new art was The Ties That Bind. Natch, I had to Google the phrase: “The tie that binds (or the ties that bind) is the shared belief or other factor that links people together.”
And your work is doing just that!

I tried, but WP did not like my Internet access in Jackson, and kept trying to “protect” me from it! Frankly, there are many things one should seek protection from in Jackson (street potholes and the water come to mind first) but I have never had a bad encounter with the Internet and have spent many a night in Jackson hotels in the last 20 years! But I am home now and happy to be here.
