Thank you, Betty. I saw a piece of window screen that had round items sewn onto it, and it was just so mesmerizing to me to see all the items used. I saved the image January 15, 2021. It took me until now to start to create a version using found objects. I have had the frame for years–probably purchased in some antique shop in Texas, and it has never held anything, but it has been hooked over many a knob or nail. When I bought it, it had green and gold paint on it and the detail was quite evident. When I saw the window screen piece, I knew what I wanted to do with the frame, though the paint has been gone for a while. Mississippi has a way of causing things to disintegrate while inside your house!

  5. Clever of you to use screen to attach your items to. I would guess that these were items you could not bear to part with.

  7. My first thought as I studied your new art was The Ties That Bind. Natch, I had to Google the phrase: “The tie that binds (or the ties that bind) is the shared belief or other factor that links people together.”

And your work is doing just that!
