I am not going to complain. I am not going to complain. I am not going to complain. I am blessed and grateful. I am blessed and grateful. I am blessed and grateful. So yesterday, two years after I was due for new glasses and my eye examination, and without the vision insurance for which I had paid premiums for those two years prior to being able to get another exam and new glasses, I dutifully headed off. [This is not a complaint, just fleshing out the story. It was April of 2020 and all “non-essential medical services” were shut down. I missed two of my annual checks that were covered 100% as my wellness benefit. I found it kind of ironic that liquor stores were still allowed to be open, but you could not get your hair or nails done and see your physicians or dentists unless it was a medical emergency. Then in May, I retired and the insurance connected with my work was gone.]
Then Rando sent a picture of Woody, hogging the feeder, blissfully in charge. I had discovered that the old pressure cooker lid would survive the raccoon. Platform feeders work best here, but between the deer and the raccoons, they don’t last very long. As my eyes had not yet been dilated, I could actually see the photo and had to smile at Rand’s caption and the image. I had been feeling a little down actually because sometimes, things just do not get done that one would prefer got done…
Then the next photo came in:
It has been sunny and clear all week. Next Monday-Saturday will be continuous rain. After all, it is still April in Mississippi. The good news is Steffi has at least been taught to “play bridge” as well as “wipe your feet.” Sometimes, you just have to love the little things and let go of the big ones when you cannot control the outcome.
Is that not the TRUTH?!!
Oh, and btw, some people call it complaining; I prefer “venting.” We’re allowed.

It will eventually all get done. 🙂

What a shame about the insurance and not being able to see your eye doctor while you had the insurance. I did love the picture of the dog on your bridge! It was so cute!

Thanks–Steffi is such a sweetheart. She also is the only dog we have ever had that hugs you–literally crawls into your lap, put her legs and paws on your shoulders and lays her head on your shoulder to hug you. One of these days, I have to get a photo of that!

Awe, that sounds so cute. Nox doesn’t give me hugs, she gives me snuggles. We call her a lap Nox when she wants to cuddle in our laps.

Oh, how could you not smile when seeing Steffi on the bridge? During Covid, I couldn’t understand how people could go to bars but not the library. Oh, it’s behind us now. Love the bird feeder picture.

Thank you, Betty. It is true, how could you not smile–even Steffi was smiling. Woody may have been just smirking. 🙂

Love both photos. Sometimes the little things are what keeps us going.

I need to teach my dogs how to play bridge too.
Called yesterday to get my annual eye exam; they are booking into October…

Rand is at the eye doctor this afternoon, so I took Steffi out just now. “Play bridge” and she walks across and stands, waiting for a treat. 🙂
I was lucky to get in so quickly!

Amazing! We are tragically underserved around here!

Oxford fares pretty well due to university and people just like it here, so there is a good pool of doctors. Other parts of Mississippi do not fare so well in the rural areas.

Ah, life has it ups and downs. Try to focus on the ups. I guess life is what it is. Liked the pictures. We have the same woodpeckers here and the same problems with feeders. It is irritating.

I still love the birds…and tolerate the raccoons. LOL

Racoons are awfully hard to tolerate. Especially when they eat 1/2 of the watermelons we grow every year.

It is hard to tolerate, and I am sorry they take your crop. I guess I can’t complain that all they do is steal birdseed and cat food.

Thanks, Anne. Yes, it is a laugh a minute around here–at least, most of the time. 🙂

Wonderful photos. Steffi looks like a hugger. Woody’s image made me smile. (Our Woody is a Pileated woodpecker, usually accompanied by mate Wilma)

Thank you! I have never seen a Pileated. These two stay pretty busy.

I hope you were able to get your glasses.

They will be ready in about a week. I had to go back today for selection as I could not see well enough after the dilation of my eyes.
